Christine Cooke (she/her)
Christine is studying Psychological & Brain Sciences with a minor in Medical Humanities. She is interested in pursuing medical school and researching perceptions of aging and how they might relate to social or cultural factors. She is from Columbus, Ohio, and enjoys traveling, baking, swimming, and is currently learning how to crochet! She also loves playing with her two dogs and taking walks in Forest Park.
Sydney Demchak (she/her)
Sydney is a junior studying English Literature and Psychological & Brain Sciences. She previously worked with the SPAN and BRAIN Labs, and her research interests include impulsivity, aging, and neurodegenerative brain disorders. In her free time, Sydney enjoys making music, playing with her dogs, and reading!
Sydney Goldstein (she/her)
Sydney is a third-year undergraduate student at WashU studying Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology and Spanish on the pre-medical track. Her research has focused on exploring ways that personality and purpose affect people’s emotion regulation strategies, especially with regards to stress and anxiety. In her free time, Sydney loves to read, run, try new restaurants, and spend time with her Bernese Mountain Dog.
Sarah Pieper (she/her)
Born and raised in St. Louis, Sarah is a sophomore majoring in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology on the cognitive neuroscience track. She hopes to pursue a graduate degree in clinical psychology and a career in behavioral therapy. Her interest in personality psychology began in high school when the book Quiet by Susan Cain inspired her to complete a research project evaluating the relationship between extroverted personality and success in the modern workplace. Currently, she is interested in learning more about social interactions between introverts and extroverts, as well as between neurodivergent and neurotypical individuals. Outside of academics, she loves playing volleyball and the violin.
Sarah Schapiro (she/her)
Sarah is a senior majoring in Philosophy-Neuroscience-Psychology on the language cognition and culture track. She is also minoring in both French and Biology. She graduated from the Paideia School in Atlanta, GA, where she was born and raised. Currently, she is working on her honors thesis with the PATH lab. Her research explores the intersection between memory and identity. Specifically, she is interested in the perceptions of aging adults in the context of cognitive decline. When she's not studying, you can find Sarah taking a run through Forest Park, cooking while watching Netflix, or taking mini adventures around St. Louis with friends.
Claire Wininger (she/her)
Claire is a senior double majoring in chemistry and cognitive neuroscience. Claire became a member of the PATH lab through the Washington University in St. Louis Summer Research Opportunity in Aging and Neurological Diseases. Broadly, she is interested in how ageism negatively impacts the well-being of older adults and what steps and interventions can be taken to minimize this impact. In her free time, Claire enjoys crocheting, baking, and attending Zumba classes!
